The instrument we begin with most often. Our piano lessons move from posture and reading through to scales, sight-reading, and a curated repertoire spanning Baroque to contemporary. Students may sit ABRSM or Trinity grades when the time is right, but the goal is musicianship — not a certificate.
Most students at Virtuoso Élite meet music for the first time at a piano. The keyboard lays music out visually — every note in a row — which makes it the clearest place to learn how music actually works: melody in one hand, harmony in the other, rhythm underneath both. Reading, listening and coordination grow together from the very first lessons.
We take pianists from age two — our youngest starters at the academy — through to adults returning to an instrument they left behind at school. The journey runs from first five-finger pieces through Baroque, Classical, Romantic and contemporary repertoire, and for committed students, on toward diploma level.
Piano lessons are one-to-one and weekly. Early lessons build posture, hand shape and reading; from there your teacher layers scales, sight-reading and aural skills around repertoire chosen for you, not worked through page by page from a fixed book. On site you play acoustic and digital grands, not practice-room uprights.
New students begin with a trial lesson at Pandan Indah or Damai Perdana: you meet a teacher, sit at the piano, and have a real first lesson. From there we match you to a weekly slot with the teacher who fits your age, level and goals.
Your piano teacher stays with you week after week — steady progress at the piano is built on that continuity, and on a teacher who knows exactly where your technique stands.
The faculty behind every program is the same: 20 teachers, every one holding at minimum a music degree, several with Master’s qualifications — led by founder Kuan Jea Yi, a Universiti Malaya music graduate with a Master of Performing Arts, now pursuing her PhD at the same university.

Every three months students perform — at the academy and at external venues — and every performer receives a VEMA Certificate of Completion.

Students arrive aged two and stay through working adulthood. We do not believe in age limits on musicianship.
From age two. Our earliest piano starters are two-year-olds — lessons at that age are short, structured and playful, built around a toddler’s attention span while still teaching real musical foundations. There is no upper limit: many of our students are working adults.
To begin, a digital piano or a keyboard with full-size keys is enough for daily practice. As you progress, your teacher will advise when it is worth moving to an acoustic instrument. At the academy itself you will always play acoustic and digital grands.
ABRSM and Trinity examination preparation is coming soon at the academy. Our position on grades is unchanged: students may sit them when the time is right, but the goal is musicianship — not a certificate.
